For the second time, I attempted to visit the Centro Cultural Kirchner, but was informed that the art galleries inside I wanted to check out were closed on Tuesdays. Argh! Foiled again! So, instead I hopped on a number 24 bus and headed a little ways out west to the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Buenos Aires. Luckily, it was open, and after forking over the nominal $3.00 entry fee, I helped myself to two current exhibitions of modern art goodness spread out over four smallish floors.

First up was Vertigo!, a really nice collection of high contrast geometric paintings by Argentinian artists spanning from the 1970s to the present decade. Most of the works on display were very strong and vibrant, recalling the best works of op art from the 1960s. Next up was Yes Not, an exhibition of site specific works by Elodie Seguin that reflected the colors and materials of the museum itself in a way that allowed the art works and the venue to offer each other mutual support. And, as Jane Russell once said, support can be beautiful.
