At checkout time, Hoessein from Rotterdam, Holland packed up his bicycle and hit the road on a four-day trip to the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, around 300 kilometers east of Sucre. It was super fun hanging out with Hoessein—hiking, shopping, making meals, drinking his yummy tea—and I hope our paths cross again someday. In the afternoon, I moseyed a few blocks over to the Museo Nacional de Etnografia y Folklore, which houses an impressive collection of artworks from all over Bolivia, including altar pieces, ceramic sculptures, clothing, jewelry, masks used in festivals and religious ceremonies, textiles, and a whole lot more. Any visitor to Sucre who enjoys drooling over raw art from decades and centuries past should give this small but worthy museum a look-see.
