The sky was grey and overcast all day, so I just took a walk around parts of Hanga Roa that I hadn’t seen yet. Starting out down by the fishing port, where there stands a smaller Moai called Ahu Tautira, my mission was to shoot a few photos of whatever struck my fancy, then head north a mile or so to see a Moai called Tahai, which is the closest big one to Hanga Roa. I also stopped by the Museo Anthropologico Sebastian Englert, but it was closed, so I made a mental note to return on Monday. I also passed by a cemetery boasting some pretty festive-looking grave sites. Throughout my whole walk, I was struck by how every bar, cafe and restaurant was mostly empty, which reminded me of the way sad beach towns everywhere look during the slow hours of the day. When I arrived at another site called Hanga Kioe, approximately two kilometers north from the center of town, I turned around and headed back.
