As my flu symptoms continued to improve, I felt considerably better all day today. While the fever, fatigue and body aches remained, the sharp head pains were almost entirely absent, except for a few very brief episodes. In general, it felt like I merely had a really bad cold. For the second day in a row, the Arjuna Guesthouses 1, 2 and 3, which are all housed within the same family compound but owned by different family members, were absolutely filled with noise. A construction crew was busy re-surfacing the “floor” of their family temple, putting down a fine pebble surface with floral designs over the plain old cobblestone. The main problem with that was some of the workers were doing a lot of loud pounding, which got to be really annoying.

I asked Made how many more days this would be going on, and he said it would end today at 6:00 pm. Later, I asked Ketut, and she gave me a different story, saying they were going to resurface a walkway tomorrow, too. So, I was pretty bummed having to listen to all of this racket–especially when I wasn’t feeling well at all. I paid good money to stay here to relax in a quiet, peaceful place, not a noise pit. It’s especially bad when it mixes in with the intermittent pounding from the new bungalows that are being built next door. If the walkway construction keeps going on after tomorrow, I’m going to look for a new place to stay for my final week in Bali before I fly home.
