Following tradition, since yesterday was a travel day, I rested up all morning and afternoon, catching up on writing and Photoshopping photos for this travel journal. In the late afternoon, I ventured outside for a walk to photograph a few Hindu temple gates in the gorgeous setting sunlight. At Ubud Palace, some Chinese tourists unfurled a big banner that they used to pose for photos in front of famous sites. The banner, which read, “We are here. And you?” was obviously designed to taunt the viewer of the photo. Before the Chinese guy even had the banner all the way open, one of the Balinese guys who was watching over the courtyard got pissed and yelled at him to put away the banner and take it outside. The Chinese guy rolled it up quickly. It was pretty funny. He probably didn’t even know or care that Ubud Palace is a temple and you just can’t do silly or disrespectful things in there.
