After an exhausting day tramping through the heat and the Museum of Siam yesterday, I took some time off to rest today. In the evening, I shot some video of the dilapidated shanty towns on the banks of the Chao Phraya river, then caught the SkyTrain to Siam Center to photograph a few 3-D store build-outs, which are really just as artistic as an installation in a gallery or a museum. Other than that, I’m not the biggest fan of shopping malls. To close out the evening, I stopped by the Bangkok Arts and Culture Center, where they were running a show called Crossover: The Unveiled Collection, featuring famous and unknown Thai artists from the past several decades, who paint in both a traditional and modern style. There were even a few that resembled an intense psychedelic LSD trip. Unfortunately, no photography was allowed.
