Tropical Punch Tour: Bali Part 12

Peliatan, Bali, Indonesia
After a yummy banana pancake (that looked like a green burrito) and a fruit bowl at the Perangi Bungalows, I spent the day just doing mundane stuff. I took my dirty clothes to the laundry after 10 days of washing them in my room, and bought a rad-looking Wayang Kulit shadow puppet for $10. I was stoked because I talked the salesgirl down from $20.
As evening rolled around, I decided to head on over to Puri Agung Peliatan Palace right next door to Ubud for a show by Gunung Sari. This one featured a lively instrumental opener called Kapiraja, followed by the Pendet dance, the Baris dance, the Legong Lasem dance, the Oleg Tambulilingan dance, another Legong and a really short Barong dance, all of which have been described in previous posts. The gamelan was tight as a drum and the dancers were totally on it and just brilliant. It’s funny when you see one or two of them after the show riding home on a motorbike in full makeup and costume.
