This morning at 11:00 am, as I checked out of the Dragonfly Hostel, they were nice enough to let me store my backpack in a closet downstairs and my messenger bag in the same locker that I used upstairs in “my” room. To celebrate the last afternoon of this whole South by South America Tour, I strolled a half mile down to Parque Alfredo Salazar, which is situated on a high cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I soaked in the pleasant surroundings there for over an hour, enjoying the relaxing views of the idyllic coastline.

At one point, I was approached by an old guy who sold me a little trinket for a few coins. A little while later, as I sat somewhere else nearby, I was dismayed when he tried to introduce me to a prostitute. I just walked away and watched some skateboarders session the flat ground at a nearby plaza. It’s a shame that I couldn’t walk down to—and along—the beach; I’ve read many accounts of people getting mugged there in the past. Instead, I proceeded up the coast on top of the cliff for a half mile or so until I reached Parque Intihuatana, which offers a nice view north, then turned around.

Back up by Parque Kennedy, I savored one last delicious falafel sandwich at Tarboush, then spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on my Photoshopping and blog posting duties inside the Dragonfly. They were super nice for letting me hang out in there. Since my flight got delayed from 10:00 pm to midnight, I waited until 7:45 pm to hop on the bus bound for the airport. It was hard to believe the time had arrived for the final leg of my three month journey through South America: a six-hour flight to Miami, followed by another from there to Los Angeles. I must say it was awesome to see some of the astonishing sights of Argentina, Chile, Rapa Nui, Bolivia and Peru. If you’ve never been there, you should definitely go.
